New parking permit scheme launch

On Wednesday 1 February 2012 new permit parking and pay and display machines will come into effect in Zones 6 and 7 around the Town Hall and Montpellier areas. 

Residents and businesses will have until 1 March to purchase parking permits.

During February, warning notices only will issued to vehicles parking in contravention of the new restrictions.

If you are a permit holder in an existing scheme, your permit will be valid in the new scheme. You do not need to do anything – your details will be automatically transferred.

After 1 March, if you park in the new permit parking areas without a valid permit, you are at risk of receiving a Penalty Charge Notice.

New pay and display machines are also being installed in this area with short and medium stay charges from 20p for up to 15 minutes to £2 for 2 hours and some areas allowing stays up to 4 hours.

You will need to know your address, council tax number and the registration number of any vehicles you wish to purchase permits for.
