Changes to household waste and recycling services
The new household waste and recycling service
We are making changes to our household waste and recycling services.
Changes to our services:
- from 1 September 2010 you will need to present your wheeled bins for collection with the lid firmly closed. Collections of any additional side waste will be phased out over time
- from February 2011, garden waste bags will be replaced with a wheeled bin service. This new service is available to all residents within the borough at a cost of just £3 per month, payable annually in advance. If you opt to join the scheme you will be issued with a 240 litre brown wheeled bin for your garden waste, which will be collected on a fortnightly basis. Collections of the current garden waste bags will cease, and facilities will be provided for residents to return any bags the they do not want for re-use or recycling. Sign up now
- from April 2011 we will be introducing a weekly food waste collection service, and collecting refuse and recycling on alternate weeks. This is similar to the system used by Tewkesbury Borough Council. Read about what happens to your food waste collection
- from 2012 we are committed to providing a kerbside recycling collection service to all households. This will be for 5 materials - glass, paper, cans/tins, plastic bottles and light kitchen card
