Get involved in sports in Gloucestershire

Sport Makers is a nationwide campaign that aims to use the inspirational pull of London 2012 to recruit, train and deploy 40,000 new sports volunteers aged 16 years and over to make sport happen across the country.

Every Sport Maker will be invited to an informal and interactive workshop where they will gain the skills and opportunities required to get involved in sport in Gloucestershire. There will also be opportunities to meet top athletes and incentives to stay involved.

Active Gloucestershire, as the county sports partnership, will have the responsibility of overseeing the programme for Gloucestershire, which aims to:

  • attract 580 potential volunteers to attend the inspirational workshops
  • ensure 457 of these are deployed into a sports leadership role for a minimum of 10 hours of volunteering
  • keep at least 228 volunteering in sport beyond 10 hours
