“Wow!” just one of the exclamations from visitors to the new Community Hub in St Paul’s.

The community centre, which will be run by Cheltenham Borough Homes (CBH), has been built as part of the housing ALMO’s huge regeneration of St Paul’s which has seen 48 new affordable homes built and improvements to 93 existing homes.

At an opening ceremony held on Friday 19 April, local VIPs including the Leader of Cheltenham Borough Council, Cllr Steve Jordan, Cheltenham’s Mayor Colin Hay and MP Martin Horwood gathered to see the formal opening of the new St Paul’s Community Hub.

Based on St Paul’s Walk, the St Paul’s Community Hub boasts a fully functioning kitchen, office for CBH staff and a large space for the whole community to enjoy.

Commenting on the opening of their community centre, Paul Stephenson, Chief Executive at CBH said: “We are thrilled with the way our regeneration of St Paul’s has transformed the neighbourhood, making it a place where people want to live now and in the future.

"The opening of this new community centre is the icing on the cake and it will serve as a hub of activity and a vital resource for the local St Paul’s community.

"We look forward to welcoming local residents and invite them to drop by and see us and take a look at all the fantastic community activities we have on offer for them to enjoy.”

Also on hand to see the unveiling and enjoy a tour of the new St Paul’s Walk development were CBH Board members and members of CBH’s Tenant Scrutiny Improvement Group (TSIP).

After the formalities were over more than 100 local residents, young and old, gathered for a first look at the Community Hub and enjoyed a street party in the spring sunshine.

CBH laid on a BBQ and kept the kids entertained with a bouncy castle, face painting and arts and crafts activities. Visitors also got the chance to see the wide range of community activities CBH has on offer.
