The notices of elections have now been published so anyone hoping to stand in this year’s Cheltenham Borough and Parish elections needs to submit a nomination paper by 4pm on 24 April 2014. In the Borough elections twenty seats (one in each borough ward) are up for grabs. All parish seats are up for election and you can view the notice of elections for the number of seats in each parish/parish ward.

In the European Parliamentary elections the UK is represented by 73 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). In the UK, there are 12 European electoral regions and each one is represented by between three and ten MEPs. In the South West Region an election is being held for six members of the European Parliament. Paul Morris, the Electoral Registration and Returning Officer for the Borough of Poole, is the Regional Returning Officer for the South West Region. Polling day for the elections will take place on Thursday 22 May 2014.

To request a nomination pack for the Borough and Parish elections, people can phone the council’s election team on 01242 264132 or call in to the Municipal Offices. Useful guides for candidates and agents can be found on the Electoral Commission website.  

The names of those nominated will be published by 4pm on 25 April 2014 and may be available before.
