Due to popular demand leisure@cheltenham are launching three new classes as a permanent feature on their exercise timetable in June.

Zumbatomic (Childrens Zumba), BOKWA (a dance based exercise class) and Holistic Martial Arts can be enjoyed by all on a regular basis.

Zumbatomic starts on Thursday 14 June and is aimed at getting children active and participating in fun routines. There are two sessions being held which are age specific. From 4pm to 4.50pm a class is taking place for four to seven year olds, which will be followed at 5pm to 5.50pm with a class for eight to twelve year olds. The structure has been specifically designed for these age groups with the emphasis on promoting overall health and fitness.

BOKWA has proved very popular with classes being fully booked when it was first launched. It is very similar to Zumba in its structure but that’s where it ends. BOKWA is based on African dance, with kick boxing and boxing steps incorporated in to its programme. BOKWA really has caught the imagination of the public and starts on Thursday 21 June from 6pm to 7pm and then a second class will take place on Sunday 1 July at 10.30am.

Holistic Martial Arts starts on Tuesday 26 June from 6.30pm to 7.30pm following on from a very successful launch. It focuses on movement and breathing as well as the spiritual benefits of martial arts. It uses similar movements from traditional Aikido and Karate. The class is taken by Richard Trafford who is an expert in this field.

Daniel Brookes, Activities Co-ordinator at leisure@cheltenham, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to add these popular classes to our exercise timetable. Zumbatomic is a great way to get children active and compliments our existing children’s activities. The feedback on our BOKWA class has been "we want more!", so we have reacted to this demand. Holistic Martial Arts is a relaxing class which will help to improve focus and wellbeing. We’re keen to offer the latest exercise trends and hope people have a lot of fun taking part in them.”
