Applications for planning permission in conservation areas are more rigorously assessed. As a result, in addition to planning permission, you are likely to need:

  • listed building consent - prior to carrying out any building works, however minor, which will affect the character or appearance of a listed building
  • conservation area consent - from the local planning authority before demolishing an unlisted building in a conservation area
