Your improved waste and recycling service

You will be able to recycle even more when the new, improved recycling collection service goes live on Monday 16 October 2017.

You'll have received all the information through your door, including a collection day calendar, how to use your new blue bag and all the new items you can recycle. You can also download a copy of the leaflet if you've misplaced yours.

Look out for a day change in some areas - find your collection day

To make the collection vehicles as efficient as possible we have changed the collection days in some areas. You will have received information directly through your door about this during September along with a new collection calendar. Customers who subscribe to our garden waste collection service may also see a day change.

Find out your collection day by searching for your address in the waste and recycling search tool.

Recycle even more at kerbside

Mixed plastics

More types of plastic (pots, tubs and trays) can now go into your green kerbside boxes as part of the new service. You'll need to separate recyclables so that mixed plastics, tins, cans and aerosols are put together in a box, and paper and glass are put in another.

Electricals, batteries and textiles

Unwanted textiles and shoes, small electricals and household batteries are also included as part of the scheme.

Small waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) includes items such as toasters, kettles, irons, DVD players, cameras, hand-held power tools and mobile and digital phones.

Textiles, small waste electricals and household batteries should be put in separate tied carrier bags and placed in either recycling box.

We can only accept dry textiles for recycling.

New blue bag for cardboard

You will be able to present all of your cardboard in your new blue woven bag and use green recycling boxes for other materials. Ubico will be delivering blue bags in time for the service launch on 16 October.

General refuse, food waste and garden waste

The fortnightly garden waste and refuse collections will remain unchanged, and food waste will continue to be picked up weekly; one week in the same collection vehicle as the recycling, and in a separate collection vehicle to the refuse on the alternate weeks.
