How do I find out the owner of the boundary to my property?

You need to check the Registered Title of your property. If your property is not registered, check your property Deeds. This may mean paying your mortgagor (where applicable) a fee for your solicitor to recover them. As a matter of good practice, you can ask your solicitor to photocopy anything of interest in the Deeds before they go back.

If the property is next to, or previously owned by Cheltenham Borough Council, we may be able to identify the owner of a particular boundary. In which case, please write to us in the first instance, providing the full postal address and a plan identifying the boundary in question.

If the property is privately owned, it is unlikely that we will be able to help you.
