Why have I been asked to provide documentary evidence?

To register to vote, you must provide personal identifiers such as your date of birth and National Insurance number. This information is checked against exisiting government records to confirm your identity. If the details provided do not match government records, we are then obliged to request documentary evidence.

If you do not provide your date of birth or National Insurance number when making an application, then we may request documentary evidence.
