How do I register my new food business?

Simply ask us for a registration form. Anyone starting a new food business must register with the local authority (which is Cheltenham Borough Council if you are within this borough) at least 28 days before opening. There is no charge for registration and it does not need to be renewed. We are required to keep a register which can be inspected by the public, containing the name and address of food premises but the remaining information on the registration form is confidential and will only be revealed to an authorised officer of another authority, or to a police officer.

If you are a food manufacturer, you may require approval before you start operating. It is important that anyone intending to manufacture foods for sale from any premises contact us at an early stage and definitely before production starts.
