Council tax charges and bands - 2023/2024

Every domestic property is valued by the Valuation Office and put into the relevant council tax band. To find out the council tax banding for a property you can check your property band by entering your postcode on the council tax valuation list.

If you think your property is in the wrong valuation band, you may be able to challenge your property band with the Valuation Office Agency.

Finding out more about your council tax band

The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) maintains the council tax valuation List (not the council). This includes placing new properties within a council tax band and changing bands for properties when necessary.

To understand why your property is in a certain band, please read the GOV.UK guidance on how domestic properties are assessed for council tax bands.
