Council tax support fund 2023-24
Recognising the impact of rising bills, the government is providing extra support to help low income households with their 2023-24 council tax bills.
The majority of the funding will be to reduce bills for working age and pension age people who are currently receiving Council Tax support, but some support is also available for other economically vulnerable residents.
Who is eligible
1. Council tax payers already in receipt of council tax support on 1 April 2023
You are eligible for the additional support if all of the follow conditions apply:
- you are working or pension age in receipt of council tax support
- you were in receipt of council tax support prior to and on 1 April 2023
- you have a balance of council tax to pay for 2023-24 after Council tax support has been applied to your bill
How much will I receive?
If your balance to pay after council tax support and any other discounts or reliefs is more than £60, you will receive a £60 reduction. If the balance is less than £60, you will receive a reduction to take your bill to zero.
How will it be paid?
If you are eligible this reduction will be automatically applied to your council tax bill.
