Competent person schemes
Competent person schemes (CPS) were introduced by the government to allow individuals and enterprises to self-certify that their work complies with the building regulations. Self certification is an alternative to submitting a building notice or using an approved inspector.
A competent person must be registered with a scheme that has been approved by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). To find out more about the scheme and whether your installer/company is registered please visit the Competent Persons website.
Works which may be covered under the competent person schemePlease note that if your installer is not a member of the CPS, you should contact Building Control.
