Questionnaire on the Pilley flood alleviation scheme

Areas of Cheltenham on its southern edge can often be susceptible to flooding associated with rapid surface water run-off from the Cotswold escarpment. The most recent and significant example of this being the exceptional rainfall/flood event of July 2007 at which time, numerous properties were affected by floodwater. Consequently, and as part of an ongoing commitment to reduce flood risk in the town, we are commissioning a catchment study to look at the causes of flooding in the Pilley/Leckhampton area, after which, potential flood mitigation measures could be developed where appropriate.

To help determine the exact extent of any problem and to consider whether or not there is a financially viable solution to what may be quite complex issues, it is important to gather as much relevant and reasonably accurate information from local residents as possible.
