Have your say on proposed parish and town council boundaries across Cheltenham

Residents, businesses and community groups are being asked to share their views on new proposals setting out how parish and town council boundaries could look across Cheltenham.

The consultation sets out the proposed boundaries for the town council, alongside changes to the borough’s five existing parish councils - Charlton Kings, Leckhampton with Warden Hill, Prestbury, Swindon Village and Up Hatherley - and the possible creation of new parished areas.

The online survey runs from today (22 June) until 31 July 2026. Paper copies will also be available from the Municipal Offices and community venues during opening times across Cheltenham.

These proposals form part of the latest stage of the community governance review, launched in 2025. Earlier stages of consultation asked residents for initial views on current parish council boundaries and whether they would support the creation of a town council. Feedback from those stages has helped shape these proposals.

Councillor Rowena Hay, leader of Cheltenham Borough Council, said: “As we continue to prepare for local government reorganisation, it’s vital that Cheltenham’s communities remain clearly and fairly represented.

“This stage looks in more detail at how parish boundaries could work across the borough, including boundary proposals for the town council and changes to existing parish areas.

“We’ve already had valuable feedback through earlier consultations, and this is the next step in that process. I’d encourage everyone to take a look at the proposals and share their views.”

Further information, including the full proposals and maps, is available on the council’s website.
