Full waste and recycling collections start today
Published on 28th January 2013
From today (Monday 28 January), Cheltenham’s waste and recycling collections will be getting back to normal.
Ubico (the council’s waste service provider) will be working hard over the next couple of weeks to clear the back-log, in addition to carrying out the usual scheduled collections.
Beth Boughton, Ubico’s waste and recycling manager said: ‘’This week, once the crews have finished their normal collection round they will be returning to areas which were missed last week and clearing as much as possible, although we don’t expect to clear the full back-log until next week.
‘’Crews have banked their hours and will be using these to undertake the catch up collections. We appreciate people’s patience and hope that things will get back to normal very soon.’’
For residents who did not have a collection on Friday 18 and Friday 25 January
Crews will be prioritising the collection of food waste and residents in these areas are being asked to put out their food caddies before 7am on Tuesday 29 January.
This week, crews will also be prioritising the collection of communal bins in flats and houses in multiple occupation.
Normal scheduled collection
Normal scheduled collections will start from today (Monday 28 January). Residents can check their scheduled collection days on the council's website or by calling 01242 262626.
If a resident would normally be due a recycling collection this week (w/c 28 January), this is what will be collected. Next week (w/c 4 February), when they are due a waste collection, they can leave out any additional side waste due to their missed collection (which would have occurred between 18 and 25 January). This extra refuse should be put into bin-bags and left next to the wheeled bin.
If a resident would normally be due a waste collection this week (w/c 28 January), this is what will be collected. Next week (w/c 4 February), on their scheduled recycling collection, they may present extra recycling materials in containers or boxes due to their missed collection (between 18 and 25 January).
