Don't miss your right to vote: county council elections

On Thursday 2 May 2013, elections will be held to determine who will represent Gloucestershire County Council for the next four years.The Notice of Election was published on Tuesday 26 March, and this marks the start of the election process.
Cheltenham residents wishing to vote, who are not yet registered, need to contact Cheltenham Borough Council's elections office now to obtain an application form, or download a form. Completed forms must be received by 17 April.
Anyone wishing to have a postal vote for the county council elections on 2 May must return their application forms by 5pm on Wednesday 17 April.
This cut-off date applies to requests for new applications for a postal vote; postal proxy vote; or to change or cancel an existing postal, postal proxy or proxy vote appointment. Wednesday 17 April is also the deadline for rolling registration application forms.
New application forms for a proxy vote (except for medical emergencies) must be returned by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April. A proxy vote is having someone vote on your behalf.

The next elections are taking place on 2 May 2013 . All 53 county divisions are up for election, and if chosen, councillors (also known as elected members) will serve four year terms of office. The number of divisions has reduced from 63-53 due to boundary changes effective May 2013. Find the divisions.
In Cheltenham , there will also be a by-election taking place on 2 May for the Warden Hill ward, after Councillor Jo Teakle recently stood down. Residents in this ward who are eligible to vote can do so at the same time as voting for the county elections. Separate poll cards will be issued to residents concerning this election.
