Following the success of the Walk Well Sunday Health Walks last year, the Sunday Walks will kick start again on 7 April.

They will run in addition to the council’s current health walks programme. Volunteers have organised a series of monthly Sunday walks which are a mixture of town and country.

The walks are planned for the first Sunday of each month through the summer. They will be further afield and a little longer than the normal walks, taking about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. Anyone can join in and the walks are completely free of charge.

Rowena Tassell, Healthy lifestyles development officer, says: “We do get a lot of requests from people who are not able to make our current walks as they are during working hours, so the Sunday Walks provide an ideal solution. We hope they will provide an enjoyable next step for people who have joined our weekly health walks programme and encourage others that have not taken part before to put their best foot forward!”

Several of the walks will include sections of paths that may be muddy so people are advised to wear suitable footwear.
