Waste collections over the Easter holiday period
Published on 16th April 2014
Changes to waste and recycling collections over the Easter bank holiday will be minimal. Crews will be working on Good Friday so collections will take place as normal on that day.
No collections will be made on Easter Monday so collections that week will be a day later than usual with crews working on Saturday 26 April to complete the catch-up. All collections will be back to normal from week commencing Monday 28 April.
For full details of revised collections, please see the table below:

Easter cardboard and foil recycling
Please help us to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by recycling as much as possible this Easter. With all those yummy Easter eggs we receive don’t forget to recycle the foil and the cardboard packaging.
Easter opening hours for the recycling centre on the Swindon Road
The Swindon Road Recycling Centre will also open for most of the holiday period with just Good Friday and Easter Monday affected. The opening hours will be:
- Good Friday 9am to 1pm (bank holiday hours)
- Easter Saturday – 7.30am to 4pm
- Easter Sunday – 9am to 1pm
- Easter Monday - 9am to 1pm (bank holiday hours)
New customers can also sign up for the council’s garden waste collection service, which makes a significant contribution to Cheltenham’s recycling rate. The special discounted rate of £35 (usually £37) is available for those who sign up and pay for a bin before 1 June 2014.
