This summer be an official supporter

Published on 26th June 2014

Last year Gloucestershire residents composted and recycled almost 50% of their waste but there is still more we could all do to reduce the amount of rubbish going to landfill.

So this summer we are challenging everyone to be a good sport and recycle! Over the warmer months we all tend to buy more soft and alcoholic drinks and never more so when there are high-profile sporting events such as the World Cup, Wimbledon and the Commonwealth Games to enjoy and support. To help reduce the number of bottles and cans going to landfill (and other types of packaging) remember to recycle as much as possible over the summer - and beyond!
  • Glass bottles and tin cans can be easily recycled at the kerbside. Some local authorities in Gloucestershire will also collect plastic bottles and wax drinks cartons.
  • Most Gloucestershire councils also offer a weekly food waste service, so if you’re having a summer party, BBQ or just having a simple get together, don't forget to recycle your leftovers too!

Be a sport - recycle!
