Paws in the Park celebrates 11 years of family fun
Published on 29th July 2014
Organisers of Paws in the Park 2014 are inviting dogs and their families to join in the fun for the eleventh year in the event’s history.
The event will take place on Sunday 3 August in Pittville Park from 11am.
Hosted by Cheltenham Borough Council with support from Animal Magic, Cheltenham Animal Shelter and Lazy Storm, Paws in the Park has become increasingly popular with families who want to include their four-legged friends in a family day out.
Bring your dog along to the novelty dog show, beginning at 12noon (registration at 11am), with nine different classes to choose from including most handsome dog and prettiest bitch, waggiest tail and the dog the judge would most like to take home. There’s something for all sizes, shapes and breeds of dogs!
Cheltenham Animal Shelter will be running have-a-go agility and dog scurry.
Dogs Trust will be attending offering free micro-chipping as part of the government scheme.
As always, there will be many stands promoting animal charities, pet services, photography and stores, as well as a bouncy castle, face painting and refreshments.
Janice Peacey, the council’s community ranger says: “Paws in the Park is one of my favourite annual events in the calendar. It’s a real pleasure to be involved in organising this event as it’s always very popular and so much fun. I really can’t believe it’s in its eleventh year. I would encourage people to come along and experience it for themselves as it really is an enjoyable event for everyone, not just dog lovers!”
Cllr Chris Coleman, cabinet member for clean and green environment, says: “If the past ten years is anything to go by, this year’s event will be a really fun day out. It’s great to see days like this bringing the community together to celebrate responsible ownership and promoting active lifestyles for the whole family – all set within an award winning park.”
