Putting a banana skin into food caddy

So that Ubico crews don’t miss food waste collections, residents are reminded to place their caddies in a prominent location.

Food caddies are collected every week and should be visible and at the kerbside by 7am.

Councillor Chris Coleman, cabinet member for clean and green environment said: ‘’Sometimes food caddies become hidden behind wheelie bins and this means that they can get missed and therefore don’t get emptied. It can happen during refuse week as the food caddies are emptied by separate crews who aren’t moving bins around.

‘’We know that residents in Cheltenham value the food recycling service very highly and we want to do all we can as part of this team effort, to make sure that collections happen smoothly and on time.’’

The reminder comes as the food waste trucks are benefitting from brand new artwork; an exciting part of the new recycling service which launches on 16 October. Residents will be able to recycle many more materials from the kerbside including textiles and shoes, small waste electrical items, household batteries - and cardboard which will for the first time go into a blue woven bag.

Information packs and blue bags have been distributed to residents throughout last month and into this month.
