New play equipment for Elmfield Park
Published on 14th November 2017
Cheltenham’s Elmfield Park has had some great new park equipment installed thanks to a successful funding bid by residents group St Peter’s and The Moors Big Local.
The Big Local group was awarded £8k funding from Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ which has been used to buy two new swings, two new picnic benches and a multi-use fitness frame.
David Manohar, SPTM Big Local Chair and resident said “We hope this installation will inspire local residents to take an active part in the preservation and maintenance of our local green space. We hope it will also initiate a range of healthy community activities.”
Malcolm Walls, green space development officer for Cheltenham Borough Council, says: “It has been great working with the local community to identify their needs and to help improve the facility for all users. We look forward to working closely with the community to develop the space even further for everyone’s enjoyment.”
The SPTM Big Local Healthy Living Space funding application supports a community health project that combines the installation of outdoor equipment with a community green space to foster a healthier local environment.
