Specialist non–executive directors and chair required for Gloucestershire Airport Board

An outstanding opportunity is now available for three non-executive directors to join Gloucestershire Airport Limited (GAL).
One of the candidates appointed to the three new independent roles will also be chair of the airport board.
The local airport – jointly owned by Cheltenham Borough Council and Gloucester City Council - is the busiest airport for general aviation in the UK. It handled over 85,000 aircraft movements in 2016, of which just over 1,300 were commercial scheduled or charter services.
In order to strengthen governance arrangements, the shareholding councils wish to appoint three independent specialist non-executive directors with the appropriate skills and experience to contribute to driving the airport business forward. Candidates will be chosen for their relevant experience related to airport operations and management, and/or legal, commercial, financial management in order to improve the commercial and financial performance of the airport.
It is envisaged that the time commitment will be a minimum of 2 days per month allowing for attendance at board meetings and preparation. There may be a greater initial commitment in the early months to ensure familiarity with the airport and its operations.
Councillor Steve Jordan, leader at Cheltenham Borough Council said: ‘’This is an ideal opportunity for three people to use their strategic business skills to shape, champion and drive the future direction and governance of Gloucestershire Airport. One of those appointed will also take on the important role of chair of the airport board.’’

Remuneration will be £6,000 per annum for the chair and £4,000 per annum for the specialist non-executive directors. It is anticipated that appointments will be for a period of 3 years initially.
