Catch up collections to continue throughout the day

Bins in the snow

Residents are being advised to continue to put out their bins, bags, boxes and caddies out so that crews visiting the Prestbury, Battledown and Charlton Kings area can make every effort to reach them

Residents may see a mix of vehicles collecting their waste and recycling to help with missed collections. For those areas where the recycling materials are being put together into one truck, residents should be assured that they will be separated once again back at the recycling centre and everything will be recycled.

The Charlton Kings area may see their recycling boxes and bags being collected later than normal as the roads and pavements continue to be icy.

Tim Atkins, managing director for place and economic development said: “Due to the snow and ice in recent days, Ubico crews have struggled to get to some roads so residents may not have had their bins and recycling collected as normal. The trucks are extremely difficult to manage in slippery conditions and crews are slowed down at times whilst empting boxes.

“As the ice melts, we will be making every effort to catch up on collections and we’d also ask residents to take care on pavements as the conditions underfoot are treacherous in some areas”.
