#PressforProgress Cheltenham event - Just under a week to go!
Published on 6th March 2018
On Saturday 10 March, #PressforProgress Cheltenham promises to be a great day jam packed with inspirational speakers and activities from 12.30-6.00pm at Pittville Pump Rooms.
As part of the International Women's Day (IWD) celebrations, Cheltenham Borough Council, the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham Trust and a range of other partners are holding this event to inspire the young people of Cheltenham and Gloucestershire to fulfil their dreams.
The Ice Maiden team leader Major Nics Wetherill will be ready to share her Antarctica adventure and Dr Jackie Bell will be revealing her astronaut training highlights. With advice from the money coach Fanny Snaith and activities from Active Gloucestershire, a smokehouse demonstration from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue service along with fusion dance and music from BAAST and Rosita Teixeira there is sure to be something for everyone.
Cllr Flo Clucas cabinet member for healthy lifestyles said: “I am delighted that this event is being held and young people from across the town can hear from inspirational, successful women. As councillor for healthy lifestyles I put forward the idea and community partners have come together to create a day to not only celebrate International Women’s Day but to have our own #PressforProgress Cheltenham free event this Saturday that will see successful women talk about their journeys, debate the issues and stimulate change.”
Major Nics Wetherill, Ice Maiden team leader said: “I’m really pleased to be taking part in #PressforProgress Cheltenham, it’s a great opportunity to not only share the Ice Maiden adventure but to inspire other young people to get out there and do things they wouldn't normally be doing, or think would be possible for them.”
