Local people can try their hand at volunteering when one of Cheltenham’s biggest summer events takes place on Saturday 7 July.

The hugely popular Midsummer Fiesta is returning to Montpellier for another fun packed family day. Without the support of fantastic volunteers the day simply wouldn’t be able to take place.

The event is free entry and starts at 12 noon right through until 9pm. Visitors can enjoy live music and dance performances, a marketplace with dozens of local stalls, a children’s village, fairground rides including a big wheel, sports activities and a range of food and drink options.

The range of volunteering opportunities includes: setting up, meeting and greeting, helping to organise the market place, providing information and directions, assisting with specific activities, car parking duties and packing up. Volunteers will be provided with a t-shirt, meals and drinks and snacks throughout the day. There are also opportunities for breaks to enjoy the event as well.

Annette Wight, events co-ordinator, said: “There is always a great atmosphere and team spirit at the Fiesta. It’s an opportunity for volunteers to gain valuable experience by being ‘behind the scenes’ at one of Cheltenham’s biggest events. Past volunteers of all ages have always enjoyed the day and many are returning this year.”

If you can spare all, or some of the day between 8am and 10pm on Saturday July 7, and would like to know more about volunteer opportunities: contact Annette Wight at Annette.wight@cheltenham.gov.uk or call 01242 264311.
