Changes to waste and recycling collections over the Easter Bank Holiday will be minimal.

Crews will be working on Good Friday so collections will take place as normal on that day. No collections will be made on Easter Monday; collections that week will be a day later than usual. Crews will be working up to and including Saturday 18 April to complete the catch-up. All collections will be back to normal from week commencing Monday 20 April.

Please note that in some areas refuse and recycling collections take place as early as 7am so please have your bins, boxes, bags and caddies presented in good time.

Councillor Chris Coleman, cabinet member for clean and green environment said: ‘’I am pleased that we have been able to maintain our waste and recycling collections during this very difficult time and I would like to thank residents for following the Public Health England advice about waste disposal to keep our crews safe and avoid spreading the virus.  All residents are being asked to sort their recycling boxes – it really does make a difference, it reduces the amount of recycling being handled by the crews and speeds up the collections allowing us to collect more recycling”

“I’d like to take this opportunity to remind those of you who receive Easter eggs this year to remember to recycle all the cardboard and foil packaging to reduce what goes into our refuse bins where possible.’’

Disposing of your waste during the current coronavirus situation

At present, all kerbside collections are happening as normal, however there may be some disruption to collections over the coming weeks and months. If this happens, we ask you to leave bins and boxes out securely and Ubico will collect as soon as possible.

The Swindon Road household recycling centre is closed until further notice.

We have set up a webpage with further advice and guidance about the disposal of waste and our waste services during the current coronavirus situation.

The council would also like to send a huge thanks to the crews for their continued hard work.
