Households in Cheltenham who don’t pay council tax by direct debit are invited to apply for the energy rebate payment
Two thirds of eligible households, who pay their council tax by direct debit, have already been paid the energy rebate payment and the Council is inviting the remaining eligible households to complete the application form to be able to process their payment.
On 3 February 2022 the government announced support to help households with rising energy bills including a one-off £150 energy rebate payment available to most council tax payers in bands A to D.
Cllr Peter Jeffries, member for finance and assets said: “I am pleased that we’ve been able to get payments out to those who pay their council tax by direct debit quickly. We can now concentrate our efforts on getting this much needed help to those who pay by other methods.
‘’Our energy rebate team will be working hard over the coming weeks to ensure that applications are processed as quickly as possible so that the payments can be made to eligible households, please don’t delay making your application.”
