Waste and recycling catch up collections will take place during this week
From 19 December 2022, the Council’s service provider, Ubico, will be out collecting scheduled refuse, food and recycling as normal this week. Residents are asked to put their bins, boxes and food caddies out as normal for their scheduled collections.
Catch up collections for missed recycling and refuse from last week started on Friday 16 December and continued over the weekend and these will continue during this week. Residents are asked to make sure their recycling and refuse is out at kerbside ready for collection during the week and the Council will collect as soon as possible.
To enable the catch up to be completed quickly before Christmas, recycling in some areas will be mixed when it is collected and refuse collection vehicles are being used for this. All the recycling will be sorted afterwards and will be recycled. Where recycling is collected mixed during the catch up, we are sorry but crews will not be able to take small electrical items, textiles/shoes, batteries, coffee pods or, for those households participating in the trial, plastic bags, films and wrappings. Please present these on the next collection.
Garden waste collections are now suspended until collections start again week commencing 16 January 2023 and residents are asked to take their garden waste bins back in. Residents with extra garden waste can take it to the household recycling centre or present it in bags next to their garden waste bin on the first collection when services resume week commencing 16 January 2023. We apologise for any inconvenience.
All public toilets are now open as normal apart from Royal Well (gents and disabled) and Montpellier Gardens ladies due to water leaks. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
The household recycling centre in Swindon Road is open as normal.
