Local policing team launch daily surgery
Published on 15th June 2011
It will be held in the foyer area of the Municipal Offices between 10.30am and 1pm, Monday to Friday.
The surgeries will be a chance for Cheltenham residents to speak to their local officers about all community issues.
Sergeant Tim Hutchinson from the team is organising the events, he said: "It is so important that local people have every opportunity possible to speak to their officers and this is another way in which they can do that.
"We have been working closely with our partners at the Borough Council to organise this new event so that people can call in and talk to officers about not only policing issues but any community concerns they may have. Officers are then in the right place to access the information that that person needs."
Community protection manager, Trevor Gladding from Cheltenham Borough Council said: "We have always worked very closely with the police and I am pleased that we are now extending this partnership by sharing offices. We have had police officers based at the Municipal Offices for some time but it's great to now have customer facing officers down in the main reception.''
Councillor Klara Sudbury, cabinet member for safety also welcomes the move, she added: ''This will give members of the public direct contact with police officers from a central location. It also enables the council and police to work more closely on a number of issues for the protection of the borough.''
