leisure@cheltenham is offering you the chance to become a qualified lifeguard.

In February a course will run for people to gain The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the UK that complies with all industry guidance.

The NPLQ is a recruitment requirement for a number of jobs from pool lifeguard to centre manager. On successful completion of the course, as a fully qualified pool lifeguard you could obtain a career within the leisure industry.

The NPLQ course duration is 38 hours and comprises physical training and theoretical classroom work followed by a practical in-water and out-of-water assessment on pool rescue, first aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and lifesaving skills. The qualification is internationally recognised and is valid for two years from the date of issue.

Nicola Rees, activities co-ordinator at leisure@: “This is the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill which could offer the chance of new or different career.”

The course starts on Monday 13 February, for full details and dates email leisure@cheltenham.gov.uk. The cost for this course and the manual will be £250.
