Budding young tennis players, between the age of five and ten years old, can look forward to a Christmas Tennis coaching event being put on by the council’s sports development team.

On Saturday 22 December the team will be delivering fun indoor tennis sessions with expert coaching from East Glos Tennis Coach; Chris Warner. Held in the cricket hall of leisure@cheltenham the sessions will include fun games and competitions to improve racquet skills.

Tom Sparks, sports development officer, said: "We are continuing our great partnership work with East Glos Tennis Club and offering youngsters the chance to improve their tennis skills with some expert coaching. The sessions proved really popular last Christmas, so we are encouraging parents to book their place early as we only have limited places available. This is a great opportunity for parents to get some last minute shopping done while the kids have a great time!"

Councillor Rowena Hay, cabinet member for sport and culture, added: “The council’s tennis sessions are always popular and this is a great chance to utilise an indoor sports hall for some quality tennis coaching in a fun, friendly environment. The sessions provide a great opportunity to keep your children active and have fun at the same time.”

There are two sessions available: 5-7 years: 10.00 - 11.30am and 7-10 years: 11.30 - 1.00pm. The sessions cost just £5 each places will be limited, parents can book by e-mailing Tom Sparks
