Local sports and athletics clubs will be coming together to celebrate on Sunday 5 May, as the Prince of Wales Stadium re-opens with better facilities. Families are invited to come along and have a go at a variety of sports.

As part of the £145,000 investment, the athletics tracks, long/triple jump, pole vault runways and shot putt areas have been resurfaced and improvements have been made for easier accessibility on to the track.

Mayor of Cheltenham, Councillor Colin Hay will announce the official opening of the athletics facilities at 10am. Celebrations running until 12 noon will be organised by the leisure@cheltenham team and supported by the Cheltenham Harriers, Cheltenham Tigers, All Golds Rugby League, The Fitness Team and Cheltenham Football Club.

Cheltenham Town FC Community Team will be on hand to offer football coaching tips for budding football stars.

Matt Clapham, operations manager for leisure@cheltenham said: ‘’We are looking forward to throwing the doors open on Sunday 5 May to show people all of the improvements that have been made.  We are thrilled that so many high profile local clubs are attending and I hope that families will come along and join us to celebrate such a great athletics facility.’’

Charles Lawrence Surfaces together with Cheltenham Borough Council Officers ensured that this project was completed on time.
