Badminton players at Cheltenham's leisure centre

- Adult beginner badminton - Girls only badminton (8-12 year olds)

Exciting new badminton courses are set to get underway at leisure@ this Autumn. During October and November a beginners’ adult course and a girls only course will take place. Both courses will run on a Tuesday for 8 weeks and cost £30 per course.

The adult beginner badminton course is ideal for social players who would like to pick up some essential skills and playing tips or for those wanting to return to sport and try something new. Over the eight weeks participants will learn about different grips, different playing strokes, serving, tactics and movement.

The girls only badminton course is aimed at 8 to 12 year old girls who want to try a new sport or who have played but would like to grow their confidence before joining a club. It will be a structured session along the same lines as the junior club but the main focus will be on game play and fun.

Daniel Brookes, Activities Co-ordinator, said: “Both courses are aimed to give participants the essential skills to enjoy a game of badminton. They are a great way to meet new people and gain the confidence to play at our drop in badminton sessions.

“The girls only course is another new Junior Badminton project we are proud to add to our already successful Junior Badminton Programme. The course is designed to grow confidence and get girls enjoying badminton. The only requirement is hand/eye coordination. As an added bonus the Essentials Adult course participants will receive a free badminton racket as part of the course price.”

The girls only 8 week badminton course will take place every Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm in October and November starting on 1 October 2013 (excluding 29 October).

The (Essentials) Adult Beginner Badminton will take place every Tuesday from 7.30pm to 8.30pm in October and November for 8 weeks starting on 1 October 2013 (excluding 29 October).
