A girls only badminton course is starting at leisure@ in the New Year.

The course will run on a Tuesday from 7 January until 4 March and costs £30.

The girls only badminton course is aimed at 8 to 12 year old girls who want to try a new sport or who have played but would like to grow their confidence before joining a club. It will be a structured session along the same lines as the junior club but the main focus will be on game play and fun.

Daniel Brookes, Activities Co-ordinator, said: “The girls only course is another Junior Badminton project we are proud to add to our already successful Junior Badminton Programme. The course is designed to grow confidence and get girls enjoying badminton. The only requirement is hand/eye coordination.”

Cllr Rowena Hay, cabinet member for sport and culture, added: “The team at leisure@ aim to provide a range of courses so there really is something for everyone to enjoy. This is a great way for girls to try out a new sport and grow their confidence in a fun and friendly environment.”
