Children having fun on a bouncy castle

7 to 17 April excluding bank holidays

Cheltenham Borough Council‘s play development team are back this Easter. They will be running play schemes, trip days and play rangers in the parks over the two week holiday period (excluding the bank holiday).

The Play Zone holiday play scheme is running at Balcarras Sports Centre. Children can enjoy a number of fun and exciting activities including arts and crafts, toys, uni-hoc and creative movement games. The scheme will also run at Rowanfield Infant School however places cannot be booked for this scheme, as it is operated on a first come first served basis.

The play rangers will also be visiting local parks once again this Easter. They will be providing children with different activities to get involved with ranging from arts and crafts, garden games and face painting. Sessions are free of charge and will run from 11.30am – 4pm in various locations.

The popular trip days are back with four trips planned. The two trips to Cheltenham’s Animal Shelter, on 9 and 16 April, for Animal Care Days are already fully booked. But there are still two exciting trips available – one to Far Peak climbing and activity centre on Tuesday 8 April and the other to Cadbury World on 15 April. Spaces are limited on so it is advisable to book early.

Laura Loving, play development officer, said: “We’ve got another action packed Easter holiday planned. The play schemes provide a variety of activities for children to take part in as well as having a chill out zone where children can watch a movie, read or just relax. We encourage free play with various bits of equipment that are available, such as puzzle solving, role play and board games for the children to enjoy and make new friends.”
Councillor Rowena Hay, cabinet member for sport and culture, added: “It's so important that we provide activities for young people during the school holidays to keep them entertained, and give them the opportunity to have fun and try something new.”

The Easter booking line is open now until Friday 4 April on 01242 774703, it is open weekdays between the hours of 12 noon until 3pm, and 6pm to 8pm.

All the activities are run by qualified staff and are open to people of all abilities.
