The Wilson option

Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, will officially open The Wilson, Cheltenham’s art gallery and museum, on Friday 30 May.

The Wilson will remain open to the public while the Royal guests join visitors and staff between 4.15pm and 6pm to celebrate the exciting new rebuild, which has gone from strength to strength since opening its doors last October.

The ambitious project took over two years to complete, but its success is now being recognised with regional award nominations for the building, and fantastic visitor feedback on the new spaces, the diversity of exhibitions and the permanent displays.

Museum, Arts and Tourism Manager at The Wilson, Jane Lillystone, said: “We are truly honoured to be welcoming Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester to officially open The Wilson. The rebuild and reopening of the building has been a long process, so we’re delighted that visitors are enjoying the new spaces and that the building itself is impressing critics on a national level.”

Their Royal Highnesses will be given a special tour around the new building and then introduced to key members of the redevelopment team, trustees and supporters of the Wilson during a private reception.
