Come and join in the fun at a free Big Local event on the green space between St Peter’s Close and Tewkesbury Road.

The event in the Moors estate, Cheltenham, runs from 11.30am to 3pm on Saturday 23 May 2015.

There will be free food and drink, live music, bouncy castles, drawing and badge-making, and seedling planting for everyone to enjoy.

The event gives residents the opportunity to join the Big Local volunteering programme and meet their neighbours; and shape what goes on in the St Peter’s and the Moors neighbourhood by sharing views on how to make the area cleaner, greener, safer place to live, with more things to do and places to go.

Naif Pierre, Big Local project coordinator, says: “There is something for the whole family to enjoy this bank holiday weekend. We hope that local residents can take some time out to come along to have some fun and meet their neighbours – and there will be the opportunity for residents to give their views on how to further improve the area for everyone.”

Cllr John Rawson, cabinet member for finance, says: “This is one of several Big Local events that will take place over the summer in St Peter’s and the Moors. It promises to be a really enjoyable way of bringing the whole community together and showing how the Big Local, working with residents, can improve the lives of people in this part of Cheltenham."

Notes
Big Local’ is a National Lottery funded project run by the Local Trust. The trust has identified 150 areas in England. Each of these areas will receive £1-million to spend within ten years on lasting, positive improvements which will benefit the area and lives of local residents. The project is resident-led, so it is up to communities to work together to decide how the money should be spent. The project aims to:
• Enable residents to be supportive neighbours;
• Help residents to make ends meet;
• Make the area safer and cleaner; and
• Develop more things to do and places to go in our community.

Where is the Big Local area?
The St Peter’s and The Moors area of Cheltenham was selected as a Big Local area in December 2012. Anybody who lives, works, volunteers or goes to school in this area is welcome to be part of this project.
