In the windy weather, household waste and recycling containers and their contents can easily get blown around, and this has led to some littering issues across the borough.

Cllr Chris Coleman, cabinet member for clean and green environment, says: “With the weather being so windy this week, we’d like to ask our residents to ensure that the lids on their recycling boxes are shut properly when presenting their boxes on the kerbside. It’s also a good idea to put an object on top such as a stone or brick.”

Residents who do not have a recycling box lid can request one by contacting our customer service team on 01242 264244 or through our website: www.cheltenham.gov.uk/binsandrecycling

The council’s street cleansing contactor, Ubico, is aware of the issues and will be out litter picking in the areas affected. Any large amounts of litter can also be reported to the customer service team on 01242 264244 or via the website: www.cheltenham.gov.uk/reportit
