Cheltenham Borough Council has approved the Joint Core Strategy (JCS) at its full council meeting today (Friday 10 February).

All three councils - Cheltenham Borough, Tewkesbury Borough and Gloucester City – have now approved the strategy which is a partnership between the three councils, formed to produce a strategic development plan to show how this area will develop up to 2031.

Tracey Crews, director of planning for Cheltenham Borough Council, says: “This is an important step in the plan making process. We’re very pleased to have reached this important milestone through partnership working with our colleagues in Gloucester City Council and Tewkesbury Borough Council.”

The next step is to go to public consultation later in the year. The responses from this consultation will inform the next stages of the strategy, including a public examination led by independent inspector Elizabeth Ord.
