Green fingered residents still have time to take advantage of a special offer when they sign up to the garden waste scheme.

Until 31 May, the borough council is offering a special discounted price of £39 for a 12 month subscription rather than the usual £42.

Residents can subscribe to the service by ordering and paying in advance for one year. For the duration of the subscription, they will receive a brown wheeled bin which allows them to take part in the garden waste collection service.

The brown bin is emptied fortnightly, on the alternate week to the kerbside recycling box, although a small number of residents will have a different day for their collections.

Cllr Chris Coleman, cabinet member for clean and green at Cheltenham Borough Council, says: “More and more people are signing up to receive a brown bin as they make things so much easier. Even if residents don’t do very much gardening, the bins are a quick and easy way of disposing of grass cuttings and hedge trimmings.

“The garden waste collection service makes a significant contribution to Cheltenham's recycling rate and it’s important that we continue to do all we can to keep waste out of landfill.”

What can go into the brown garden waste bin?
