2 people volunteering at event

Well known for its festivals and big family days out, Cheltenham’s organisers rely on enthusiastic and dedicated teams of volunteers to ensure these high profile events are successfully delivered.

Louise Forey, participation and engagement team leader, says: “We currently need volunteers for both the Cheltenham Festival of Cycling and the Midsummer Fiesta, and volunteer support is really crucial to making these events run smoothly.

“Volunteering is a lot of fun and a great way to gain behind the scenes experience and learn more about how events are managed.

“We’re looking for people to help with a number of activities for both of these popular events including setting up, helping with activities, meeting and greeting visitors, marshalling vehicles safely on and off the sites, and more.”

“Volunteers are invited to a briefing session beforehand and are provided with a t-shirt to wear on the deal, meal and drink vouchers for the day; there are also opportunities to enjoy the event.”

Cheltenham Festival of Cycling, 10am to 5pm, on Sunday 19 May 2019
The Cheltenham Festival of Cycling returns on Sunday 19 May 2019 at Pittville Park, either side of Tommy Taylor's Lane. With plenty of bike racks available, cycling to the event is encouraged.

Come and support the Western League Cyclocross Races, where top local amateur cyclists race over a challenging off road circuit, testing their endurance and bike handling skills to the limit.  Take part in free coaching and confidence building sessions, a junior bike obstacle course, women’s only guided rides, bike maintenance, bike demos and much more.  For more information about the event and volunteering please see www.cheltenhamcyclingfestival.org.uk/the-festival-2019/

Midsummer Fiesta, 12 noon to 9pm, on Saturday 6 July 2019, help needed from 8.30am
Cheltenham’s biggest free summer event takes place at Montpellier Gardens on Saturday 6 July.  The popular Midsummer Fiesta attracts crowds of thousands, and this year will include 4m long walking dinosaurs, live music and dance performances; a big top with exciting entertainment including dinosaur hatching, Glos Disco and the Music Man; a marketplace with dozens of local stalls; inflatables, rides, circus skills, go-karting, face painting and music; classic and vintage cars; fairground rides; have a go sports activities and a range of food and drink options.

There are also still stalls available to hire in the market place, which provide a great opportunity to promote your business or organisation and to interact with local people. For more information about volunteering or hiring a stall please visit www.midsummerfiesta.com

“If you can spare some time on either of these days and would be interested in helping, please contact Louise Forey, email [email protected], telephone 01242 264297.”
