Following the proclamation of the new Sovereign in London today (Saturday 10 September), by the Accession Council, the Mayor will read the local proclamation tomorrow (Sunday 11 September).

The reading will take place on the steps of the Municipal offices at 14.00.  Members of the public are welcome to attend, with official invitees.

The Proclamation of Accession is the publicising of the accession. It is the formal method of sharing the news that the monarch has died and that the heir has acceded to the throne.

Cheltenham’s Town Crier, Ken Brightwell will be informing residents and visitors in the town centre before the proclamation takes place.
