A junior badminton coaching club for young people aged 8 to 16 starts on Wednesday 19 January 2011 at leisure@cheltenham.

This fun ten week course gives participants the opportunity to improve their badminton skills and be introduced to fun matches.

Fully qualified coaches will take the sessions which only cost £15 for the ten weeks. For 8 to 11 year olds they will take place from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and for 12 to 16 year olds the sessions will run from 6.30pm to 7.30pm . Sessions will be held in the cricket hall at leisure@cheltenham.

Tom Sparks, sports development officer, said: "We are really excited to be launching a junior badminton club at leisure@. If you are a beginner or just want to come along and have some fun while improving your skills, then join in and get involved."

Councillor Andrew McKinlay, cabinet member for sport and culture, added: "We hope the sessions will be fun and sociable as well as encouraging more young people to take up badminton."
