Sports and play schemes will keep children busy

Children have an exciting range of activities to choose from this Easter thanks to an action packed programme being organised by the sport and play development teams at Cheltenham Borough Council.

The sports development team will be delivering the popular Sport Zone Roadshow across the Easter holidays. These multisports sessions - aimed at 8 to 14 year olds - are a great way of having fun and trying many different sports such as dodgeball, uni-hoc, football, badminton, kwik-cricket and lots more. The roadshow will be taking place at Christ College Sports Centre from 11 - 15 April, 9.30 - 12.30 and from leisure@cheltenham from 18 - 21 April. Sessions costing £5 for the morning or £20 for the week can be booked by calling the team on 01242 774408.

The Play Zone holiday playschemes are also back this Easter, at Balcarras Sports Centre.  Children can enjoy a number of fun, exciting activities including arts and crafts, toys, wii and xbox kinnect games, body zorbing and animal mania. Call the play development team on 01242 774408 to book a place. The scheme will also run at Rowanfield School, however places cannot be booked for this scheme, as it is operated on a first come first served basis.

The play and sport rangers will also be visiting local parks this Easter, providing young people with many different activities to get involved with ranging from arts and crafts, sports equipment and a bouncy castle. Sessions are free of charge and will run from 10.30am - 3.30pm in various locations.

Craig Mortiboys, health communities partnership manager said: "We are pleased to be able to offer children a vast menu of varied, exciting activities to get involved with during the Easter break. There are opportunities to experience many different sports as well as gaining some quality coaching in our sport specific afternoon sessions. The Play Zone holiday scheme will also be keeping young people entertained and active during the holidays. We encourage parents to book their places now to avoid disappointment."
