Cheese stall at the continental market in 2010

Thursday 6 October to Sunday 9 October on the Promenade, Cheltenham.

Cheltenham’s continental street market returns to Cheltenham on Thursday for four days. Due to the street market’s popularity, a further 10 stalls will be trading in the pedestrianised area of the Promenade by Cavendish House, as well as in its usual position alongside the Long Gardens in front of the Municipal Offices.  The market will be returning for the seventh time, adding to Cheltenham’s offering for shopping and tourist attractions.

More than 30 stalls, representing a host of European countries including France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain, will be selling a range of olives, cold meats and cheeses, as well as hot food to take away including garlic mushrooms and paella.  The market will open from 10am until 5.30pm on each of the four days.

Martin Quantock, manager of Cheltenham Business Partnership, said: "The continental market is now becoming a regular feature in Cheltenham's calendar and draws many visitors to the town centre from near and far.  It is so popular now that we have been able to increase the size of it with more great products from the continent.  The sights, tastes and smells of the continental market are great for reminding people of their summer holiday overseas."

The market has been co-ordinated by Geraud Markets, which also puts on Cheltenham’s Christmas market.
