Registered parks and gardens

Historic England is responsible for maintaining and compiling the national register of parks and gardens of special historic interest in England. There are two in Cheltenham included on the register:

These are both grade II listed sites because their historic layout, features and architectural ornaments are considered to be of special interest.

No additional statutory controls follow as a result of being on the register, but local planning authorities are required to take into account the landscape's special interest when preparing local plans and in deciding planning applications that could affect the preservation of a registered park or garden and its setting.
