Fly tipping

Information on fly tipping

bags of rubbish and other items dumped on the street

Fly tipping is where any refuse or bulky material has been left on the land or highway without permission.  These items are unsightly and may cause a danger to the public, so need removing quickly.

If you notice any items which have been fly tipped on public land, or have witnessed anyone dumping items, please contact us and we will take direct action.

Fly tipping on private land is the responsibility of the owner or occupier.  If requested, the council will assist but will recharge the cost of collection and disposal.

Fly tipped items may vary from furniture, fridges, freezers, carpets, builders rubble to smaller items of refuse, so to assist us in its swift removal, when reporting the incident please be aware of what the items are, the location and the time and date.

Fly tipping is illegal and offenders will be prosecuted.
